A Creative Hens Night Party

“Everybody knows that the standard hen’s party tends to involve a stripper. There is something tantalising about watching a nude male make a show of undressing. But when you think about it it’s a bit passive. I’m the kind of person who likes to be active; I admit I prefer doing sport to watching sport. That’s why sitting for hours on end waiting for that moment when I can watch a stripper was boring for me.

Then I found out that I could watch him undress and get creative in the process.

How ? I went to a nude male life drawing party at a friend’s hens night. It was here in Adelaide and organised by Hens Party Ideas Adelaide You get to watch a guy make a show of undressing, you get to see him nude for a rather long time, and on top of that you get to study him intensely, because you draw him.

I remember when the other bridesmaids came up with the idea of life drawing it sounded unbelievably daunting. I like to be challenged, so I talked myself into saying yes to their suggestion. I was pretty nervous. Of course my drawings were lousy, but I’ll admit they were a little less worse than I had expected them to be. But it was so much fun drawing with all the girls and really getting a good stare that the quality of my drawings became irrelevant. And having a couple of glasses to drink also definitely helped me let go of my perfectionist tendencies LOL”

I asked one of our clients who had been to two nude male life drawing parties that we organised to write something about her experience. The above is what she wrote.

mini-henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-life-drawing-bella (14)

People who have never done life drawing before wonder what it is. Let me explain it a little. It is the act of drawing a naked human body by means of looking at a live model. It’s something that artists find quite normal, because during their studies they have weekly life drawing classes. Life drawing classes for artists last 3 hours. The final drawing to normally takes about an hour. Imagine being still entire! That’s very hard for the poor model. They get lots of pins and needles.

The life drawing parties we organise here at Hens Party Ideas Adelaide are shorter: they last one and a half hours. Whereas art students get to draw males and females of all different shapes and sizes, both old and young, the models we organise for our hens parties are gorgeous, young hunks. Age range is 20 to 35. Along with the model comes an art teacher/MC. He or she makes the drawing really easy; very different to those painfully embarrassing our classes some of us tend to remember having to endure at school. The MC gives simple tips and turns drawing into a game.

Give us a call on 0432 924 305 or email us. If you call us you can pick our brains, we’re here to help you. You can also find us on Facebook, Hens Party Ideas Adelaide. We love it when you like us.

Frequently Asked Life Drawing Package Questions

Let me get into the nitty-gritty by means of frequently asked questions:

How many people do we need to be?

We’ve set our minimum numbers at 12, but we’ve had parties with as few as 6 girls, they’ve just divided the cost for 12 between themselves. The largest life drawing party we’ve ever had was with 42 girls.

How much does it cost?

Our prices range between $35 per person and $80 per person. If you follow this link you can see more details.

What do we need to provide?

Nothing. We bring everything with us: an art teacher/MC, a male model, charcoal or graphite pencils or water-soluble pastels if you’ve opted for colour, paper, boards, aprons and easels if you’ve got the table space for them.

mini-www.henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-life-dog-love-our-models-too

Do we need to pay a deposit?

We request a deposit of $120. That secures a specific date and time for you. Best to book as far in advance as possible, that will guarantee you get the date and time you want. The deposit is non-refundable, however you can use it as a deposit for another party.

What times are available?

Our nude male life drawing parties can be held whenever you like. Most girls book them on a Saturday. It’s good to have them in the afternoon because you’ll get far more out of it if you’re not too much under the influence. We run them on Sundays and during the week as well, we’re far more flexible with regard to times then.

Do you also provide topless waiters?

We sure do. It’s great fun to add a topless waiter to the mix.

How long do the sessions last?

Sessions normally last 90 minutes which is ample time for drawing, chatting and laughing. We’ve done parties that have only lasted an hour and we’ve organised a life drawing party that took 2 ½ hours. Full day workshops are lots of fun too.

We have no experience whatsoever in drawing, is that a problem?

Our focus is on fun, that’s all you need to have had experience in. The quality of the drawings really is irrelevant. However, what is interesting is that everyone who has participated in the nude male life drawing parties has improved throughout the one and half hours. Sometimes people have discovered a talent they never even imagined that they had. Women are surprised that teir sketches are far better than what their worst fears had had them imagine they would be.

Is this any different to organising a stripper?

Yes, it’s totally different. The nude male model’s role is to inspire you. He is there to entertain you and to have fun with you. Forget lap dances and gyration!

Do you have any other hen’s party ideas?

Yes, lots of them! If you want to stay artistic we also offer painting on a nude guy. You start by sketching him and then add colour to the sketches. The hen then chooses her favourite sketch and she and the winning girls get to paint that on their nude model.

Other hens party activities we offer are Bollywood dancing, cocktail making, Rudigami, burlesque-exploring the art of seduction, tarot card reading fortune telling, and we also have a magician who comes to hens parties and teachers you all tricks. We’ve come up with other ideas too and have put them together in an article titled 21 top hens ideas. Take a look.

Oh, and BTW we also offer nude female life drawing for buck’s parties. Some ladies want to be sure their man is in safe hands, and some men don’t want to risk ruining their wedding night :-)

  1. The Tea Party Hen Do: anyone for high tea?

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au (19)

You can’t go wrong with a classic afternoon tea party with cupcakes and champagne as part of the mix. High teas hark back to the days when dinner was eaten around 8pm and, therefore, afternoon teas were mini meals. Our favourite Adelaide venue for this nourishing hens party idea is the Mockingbird Lounge in the sea-side suburb of Glenelg.  Their cafe is also a second-hand book store with plenty of literacy excitement. They have a lovely private courtyard garden and function room out the back.

  1. The Treasure Hunt: an adventure to put the zig in zag, and a spring in your hen’s step

    henspartyideasadelaide.com.au (18)

  1. A Horseback Hens Party: does your hen know what it feels like to ride a horse?

    henspartyideasadelaide.com.au (3)

Horses have the power to take you away from life’s everyday cares, yet at the same time they keep you grounded in the present. As Laurel Braitman explains: “A horse is a borderland creature, a gateway animal to another world. They allow us to imagine other ways of existing in our world. Horses let us be cowgirls and princesses.”

With Westwood Park Services you can ride along Aldinga Beach with stunning views of hills during the day and glorious sunsets in the evening. You’ll paddle your horse in the water and hear the splash of the ocean under its hooves. They provide horse rides for beginners too.

  1. Invite a Magician: does your hen want a magical evening?

    henspartyideasadelaide.com.au (7)

Best if the magician performs close up magic and then adds an extra half an hour of tuition. The tuition session allows everyone to learn a trick or two. Then try them out on an unsuspecting victim later on in the evening. A brilliant way to break the ice if there are lots of girls that don’t know each other. Hens Party Ideas Adelaide has some great magicians working for them.

  1. Play Games: for all hens in the entire universe

    henspartyideasadelaide.com.au (20)

Last but not least, games are a brilliant idea to get a hen’s party off to a roaring start. Below we’ve listed some of the all-time favourites, ranging from silly to naughty and everything in between.

Taboo

It’s a simple game and lots of fun. You choose a list of words that are ‘forbidden’ during the evening. Anyone who accidentally says them gets punished. The severity of the punishment is up to you: perhaps they have to share an embarrassing fact or do a crazy dare.

Never have I ever

This is a take on the classic ’truth or dare’. It’s the ideal conversation starter. Each girl has a turn at making a statement starting with “Never have I ever …”. Anybody who has done that must have a drink. This game is really funny and you’ll get to learn a lot about the hen’s friends.

Piñata

Everybody, in true Mexican-style, gets blindfolded in turn, is spun around and gets to have bash at the goodies inside the giant pink penis.

Toilet paper wedding dress

Another great way to get the girls to meet each other. Create groups of girls that don’t know each other. Each team is given 3 rolls of toilet paper. They choose one to be the bride for the duration of the game and together they fashion a wedding dress and veil as best they can. The winning team gets a prize and the losing teams does the tidying up afterwards.

Guess the Memory

Get everyone to anonymously write down a personal memory of themselves with the bride-to-be. All the memories then get put into a hat and the hen has to read them aloud and guess who wrote it. That’s a good way for everyone to get to know each other and have a good bonding laugh. You can then paste all the memories in a book and give it to the hen as a heartfelt present. She’ll love that.

I Hope You Do

How about something sentimental? Ask everyone to find a chair, supply them with a glass of sparkling and have them spend 10 minutes filling out what they hope and wish for for the bride to be on a little card. As in Guess the Memory, these cards can be read out aloud and then pasted in a book for the hen.

Well, that’s it for now. Oh and congratulations if you’ve go to the very end of this article of 2025 words.

I’m sure there are many other brilliant hens party ideas out there, so write to us and tell us yours. We’ll add it to our list.

Five Fun Hens Night Party Theme Ideas

or How To Reduce the Bridesmaid’s Stress Levels

A hen’s night party is quite an undertaking. Not quite like building the Sistine Chapel, but close; I’ve never heard of anyone who found it an easy job, and know of several women who would prefer dental surgery. There’s so much to consider, so many different people to please, heaps of possibilities to choose from and all that makes it totally overwhelming.

I’m the kind of person who leaps before she looks which means I will put up my hand for a job gleefully because I always think it will be a cinch. When my best friend asked me to organise her hen’s party my reply was obviously:  “Sure, too easy.” I really leapt into the unknown that time. It turned out far too hard.

There’s the other kind of person, the wiser kind. Yes, we all hate and envy them, with their calmness and their organisational skills. They look before they leap, or sometimes even build a large bridge before leaping. They are aware of the challenges that being a hen’s party organiser brings. They cringe in advance and may secretly, yet desperately, seek for a way to weasel out of the job. Yes, it’s a job. It starts as a part-time job and towards the end seems like a full-time job with lots of overtime. And you get paid with love…well that’s if you do a good job. Don’t worry, if you fail you can always find new best friends, or live on a deserted island; there’s absolutely no pressure.

I have now been a professional hen’s party planner for a few years and have a big bag filled with tricks and, in reserve, a stress reducing arsenal. Number 1 is to think through everything in advance. Pretend you are a top-level project manager: How will you cope with seven different diets, five choices of bridesmaids’ outfits, and worst of all with bridezilla before breakfast.

Later I’ll talk you through some more tricks, but first I want to share my favourite hen’s party theme ideas with you.

Hens Party Theme Idea #1

If you’ve taken a look through our Hens Party Ideas Adelaide website   you’ve probably noticed that we have an artistic bent. That’s because we work closely together with an Adelaide based business called Art Logic www.artlogic.com.au, so we all love art and are creative girls (and boys).

The first hens party theme idea is

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-gigi-stripes

STRIPES

You may say, well this is nothing new. But I say if Cara Delvigne can do pink and white stripes, so can we. Be sure not to go near any male Zebras though, they have less control that the boys after a few beers on a Saturday night:

www.henpartyideasadelaide.com.au-cara-delevigne

There’s not only Cara to look for inspiration for:

We’ve watched how GigiHadid, Kendall Jenner, and Rihanna have also fronted the world in stripes.

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-stripes

Want to stand out from the crowd? Paint your face and legs and arms with dots and stripes.

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-bodypaint-stripes

If that’s too much, try it a little subtler:

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-bodypaint-subtle-stripes

But most of all have fun,  that’s what fashion at hens parties is about.

To expand the theme, decorate your party room in stripes.

c8ea11d68be6b5fe9b8f91cb8388d4f3

If you’re feeling brave invite one of our nude male models and paint stripes on him

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-bodypaint-paimt-men-in-stripes

When all else fails do it through your nails:

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-nail-stripes

Hens Party Theme Idea #2

Time for some pirate fever.

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-pirate-theme

Dress up as island girls or pirate babes and invite a pirate over to teach you the art of cocktail making.

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-pirate-cockail-making

Or you could take the Cara Delevigne approach and dress up as mermaids (well minus the wings)

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-pirate-mermaid

If you want to rev things up a notch create some hot pirate outfits. Evoke  the times of Captain Pugwash, pirate Blackbeard or Capt Jack Sparrow. Stock up on eye patches and captains’s hats. Imagine you are  (is now 70 years old)as 2nd pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean. You can then contend with the likes of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow 😉

Eating some pirates would be fun too, though try to avoid getting the parrot stuck in your throat, otherwise your best conversation will be “Polly want a cracker”.

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-pirate-food

Hens Party Theme Idea #3

Hurrah, it’s time for some Neon Joy. Let’s travel back to the 1980s for a retro theme.  Big hair, big colours, big take overs, big outfits, and shoulder pads you could land a light plane on.

henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-80sretro-glam

You can dress up in bright neon colours and dance to the music of the 80s. Try teasing your hair out:

henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-80s-hair

Take inspiration from Grease, though made in the 80’s, was set in the 50’s

Then add the right kind of make-up and be sure to let subtlety take a holiday.

You could also try some glow in the dark make up and some glow sticks as bracelets.

Then add some luminous material to decorate the body with, easy enough to make.

If you’re good with stilts and possess a sturdy pair of ankles try a pair of super high neon heels. Restraint and the 80’s were never introduced, too much of everything and you’ve got it about right.

henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-neon-shoes

Then you can add the neon glow party accessories.

hehenspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-neon-glow

Hens Party Theme Idea #4

What could be better than 1920’s Great Gatsby glitter? Does your hen want some glitz and glam? Then this is the perfect theme for her.

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.gatsby..

Glitter makes things nice and sparkly. You can go for glitter clothes, glitter make up and glitter accessories.

Go for a roaring 20’s party. They were pretty sparkly then. Why not invite a professional and have her teach you some of the moves (grooves, in the 20’s?) of those times.

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com-gatsby-party

Our Burlesque teacher can do that for you:

We’ve seen the likes of Kendall & Kylie Jenner all sparkled up.

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-glitter-Kendall-Kylie-Jenner

You could also go for the Rihanna sparkle look.

henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-1920s-rihanna

Taylor Swift has a more reserved approach to sparkles:

www.henspartyideaseadelaide.com.au-glitter-taylor-swift

Hens Party Theme Idea #5

Navy, red and white ahoy. You can start by sending out ‘hello sailor’ hens party invitations 😉

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-hey-sailor

Keep it simple: navy paper with a red ribbon and a white anchor tied to it.

You could surprise the hen with sailor signs and banners and prepare some Mediterranean food.

When it comes to clothing, an easy option is to buy the same captain’s hat for everyone.

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-nautical-party

Add to that some sailor badges and it’s a brilliant start.

Of course the top has to be striped and then a red bow will stand out brilliantly. Then add some shorts and trousers and you’ll be looking pretty cute.

Good with a sewing machine? I hate you, I wish I was, but I digress.

Here’s some catwalk sailor gear to inspire you:

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-nautical-catwalk

Kim and Khloe K definitely like the sexy sailor look:

Unknown

If you’ve opted for a summer pool or beach hen’s party why not copy Gigi Hadid:

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-nautical-theme

Rihanna’s pretty hot as a sailor too:

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-Rihanna-sailor

Don’t forget to sail with the nail:

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-nautical-nailart2

To top it all off, invite one of our sailor boys for some life drawing and draw him in a variety of sailor poses… maybe even in the full Monty.

henspartyideasadelaide-life-drawing-sailor-theme

We think Tim Robards makes a pretty good sailor boy too.

henspartyideasadelaide.com.au-sailor-tim

But unfortunately he’s no longer a bachelor – he and Anna Heinrich are still an item.

Now at the start of this article I said I’d get back to the dry facts of optimal organisation.

Here are some questions should you should ask yourself or discuss with the other bridesmaids at the very outset when organising your hens party. Having everything worked out in advance will greatly reduce the need for an intravenous drip of valium.

  1. What season will it be? Spring, summer, autumn or winter. Adapt the theme and clothing accordingly. Always avoid arctic survival gear parties in summer, and skimpy dresses while frolicking in the snow. Obvious you say… you’d be surprised.

  2. What’s your budget? Are we talking hiring jumbo-jets for A-list celebrities, or renting a campervan? Does everyone have enough funds for the fancy dress theme? Or will you have to send the boys with brass knuckles around. Part of the fancy dress party could be creating the dresses. The organisers could gather materials and together you could make the outfits. Then dressing up becomes an activity in itself. That would be a brilliant icebreaker too.

  3. What kind of style would appeal to your hen? She might hate what you love! If so, she has no taste, but it’s still her day. It’s all about her, so make sure to choose something that that doesn’t make her cringe with horror and stay in the bathroom.

  4. Does she want a night in or a night out? If she wants a night out check with the pub/bar/club if they are okay with your fancy dress. You wouldn’t want to be refused at the door.

  5. Memories: go creative and crafty with a memory wall filled with photos. Take photos during the event and afterwards put them all in a related scrapbook for your beloved best friend, aka, the hen.

At the outset I mentioned that you needed to think like a project planner. Not that you need steel girders for your hen’s outfit. All you need to do is think every little step of the way through and work out whether it’s feasible and how to make it happen. Does it sound like cinch? Well…it isn’t.
